Open day at Basildon Crematorium

Basildon and District Cemetery & Crematorium is issuing an open invitation to those living in and around its local communities to visit its picturesque, peaceful, site in September.

The crematorium is hosting a community open day on Saturday 28 September between 10am and 2pm.

Visitors will be able to tour the facilities and take a walk in the landscaped grounds as well as to meet the crematorium team and find out more about the work they do and exceptional care they provide to make each service uniquely personal.

They will also have the opportunity to take a tour of the crematory, if they wish.

Basildon and District Cemetery & Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 40 sites across England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

Westerleigh Group prides itself on providing exceptional care to the bereaved, the standards of which are inspected by the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities (FBCA) in England and Wales, and the Scottish Government.

Adam Mayers, Manager of Basildon and District Cemetery & Crematorium, said: “This open day is available to anyone, even if it’s just to look around and understand what we do. Everyone is welcome, whatever your reason.

“In addition to seeing our modern and beautiful facilities, visitors will be able to meet my compassionate team, ask any questions they may have about what we do, find out all about the exceptional care and services that we provide and how we can make a loved one’s service uniquely personal.

“Visitors will also be able to learn about the work we do in our local community, and the charitable donations we make, and learn about the various memorial options available to help the bereaved remember their loved ones.”

Adam added: “While attending the open day, visitors will also be able to write letters or cards to those they have lost and put them in our memorial post box and take some time to pause and reflect in our beautiful grounds, which are surrounded by nature.

“No appointment is necessary for the community open day; absolutely everyone is welcome.”
